Summer At The Salon & Spa

I saw a "GRAND OPENING: NEW EMPLOYEES WELCOME" sign blocking the title of the store. It wasn't the best job, I know, but at least it was something. I called my dad and told him my new job. I went inside. Then I remembered they probably weren't going to accept any body who just walked in. "Hello." I looked around. It appeared that almost no one was there.
"Yes, may I help you?" A lady with long french manicured fingernails and curly blonde hair looked at me."You're awfully young." She commented.
"Hello, yes, um, do you have any job applications forms I can fill out? I saw that huge sign out there."
"Of course, who could miss it?" She seemed proud of a sign.
"Anyway, how long has this store been open?"
"Oh, only about a week. Here you go." She reached behind her desk and pulled out a piece of paper.
"Bring back within a week, please." She said.
"Thank you." I said and headed home.

I walked into the store, where they had actually removed the huge banner. It said underneath it in fancy pink letters: "Hollywood Style Salons" "Not the worst name." I said, walking in.
"Back in already?" The lady asked.
"Yes, in fact."
"You look tired." She commented.
"I ran."
"Oh my!" She said, clapping her hands to face.
"I'm fine, honest. Do it all the time."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Well . . ." She glanced through the form. 'You can start work tomorrow at 10:00 AM."
"Alright." I thanked her and ran back home.

The lady I had met earlier let me in, but some people were waiting outside. "With a new employee, I decided to put out an ad for our store. It's worked wonderfully. Your name is Ashley right?"
"Yes. And what should I call you?"
"Mrs. Ruby."
"Ok."
"You will work in appointments. Take now every appointment, but you're basically the receptionist."
I walked over to the desk, and I had a feeling I was gonna be bored.

The phone I hadn't noticed yet rang, and I picked it up, saying, "This is Hollywood Style Salons,how may I help you?" I just assumed that was what I was supposed to say.
"Yes, I'd like to make an appointment at three."
"Alright then, I'll put you down. Thank You."
I scribbled down "appointment at 3:00" in the notebook next to the telephone. After that, the phone rang a couple of times, but I was doing basically the same thing.

After a long day of telling people where to go when they arrived, making appointments, and canceling appointments, I was ready to go home. It was almost 7:30. Mrs.Ruby came by my desk and said,
"Just in case your wondering, you get paid by the week."
"Oh. Well, see you tomorrow." I headed out the door, running home, hoping someone had made diner.

By the time I arrived at the store, I realized I was an hour early. Might as well look around. I thought. Maybe I could find Gina's job.

I walked into the salon, and Mrs. Ruby was there by the counter. "Oh there you are. Well you'll be at the desk again. Sorry I didn't give you a lunch break yesterday, but you'll get one today." She disappeared behind a door and a few more customers than yesterday came, but when my lunch break came I raced out to the food court.

"Sorry I'm late." Buisness was kinda slow the rest of the day. Soon enough it was 7:30 again and I headed home.
